Adorable baby Tassie devils come out to play

A pair of tiny Tasmanian devil joeys has stolen the hearts of thousands of Australians in a viral video posted by their carers.

Koda and Kayah are the latest bundles of joy at the Australian Reptile Park on the New South Wales Central Coast.

The twin joeys were born as part of a national breeding program to save the species from extinction, with 51 joeys being born into the program this season.

“Koda and Kayah are such gorgeous additions to our reptile park family,” General Manager Tim Faulkner said.

“They’re proving to be a hit with visitors with their photos and videos popping up on social media more and more each day!”

A video of the joeys with their carer Taryn Moore posted to Facebook on Saturday has clocked up 436,000 views.

The Tasmanian devil, currently classified as endangered, is under threat from a transmissible disease called Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD) that has reduced the wild population to less than 90 percent in some areas.
