Several campers have been evacuated from a camping ground in northwest Tasmania after two youths allegedly set fire to thick scrub.

Firefighters used a helicopter water bomber to put out the blaze in the Black River camping ground on the Bass Highway, Black River on Thursday afternoon.

A small amount of camping equipment was destroyed by the fire but no one was injured.
