Vic man on Tassie child sex charges

A former senior employee of a Hobart children's home has been charged with 20 historical sex offences including sex with an underage teen.

The Victorian man, 82, has been charged with offences against 12 young people at Kennerley Children's Home properties in the 1970s and 80s, Tasmania police say.

The charges are:

* one count of sexual intercourse with a young person under the age of 17

* seven counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person under the age of 17

* two counts of committing an indecent act directed at a young person under the age of 17

* 10 counts of indecent assault.

Police say the offences occurred at four properties in Claremont and Chigwell.

The man now lives in Sunbury, northwest of Melbourne.

He has been summonsed to appear in the Hobart Magistrates' Court on December 9.
