Underpayments in Tasmanian parental leave

The Tasmanian government has uncovered problems with its parental leave system which might mean staff in some departments were underpaid, dating back years.

Nurses and other workers under the Health and Human Services Award may be affected by the "oversight" which was identified last week, Tasmanian Health Services boss David Alcorn said on Wednesday.

"This is an extremely regrettable situation and one we will move as quickly as possible to rectify," Dr Alcorn said, adding that an audit will be undertaken to identify those workers who were short changed.
