‘UFO’ burns across the Tasmanian morning sky

A fireball has scorched across the Tasmanian sky sending UFO theorists into a frenzy, but all is not what it appears.

Lee-Anne Peters and dozens of others filmed the object over southern Tasmania yesterday as it appeared to erupt into a ball of flames and streak across the skyline.

Airservices Australia tried to calm the masses that witnessed the suspected extra-terrestrial phenomenon, saying it was nothing more than a commercial aircraft passing through clouds with the early morning sunlight highlighting its contrails, ABC reports.

UFO sceptics have continued to form their own ideas as to what the object is despite an official explanation.

Other theories penned on social media included meteorites, spaceships and fairies.
