Two youths charged over Hobart scrub fires

Two youths have been charged and police are looking for a third after they allegedly lit fires in scrub in northern Hobart.

Police were alerted about 7pm on Tuesday to a group lighting a series of fires on Sattler St in the suburb of Gagebrook. The three blazes were quickly put out by the Tasmania Fire Service before they grew.

Officers arrested two youths nearby. They have been charged and bailed to appear in court at a later date. A third young person has also been identified.

Police praised the community for being vigilant and said the fires had been put out before they could endanger any houses or property.
