A total fire ban has been declared for southern Tasmania including Hobart and suburbs, with high-danger weather forecast.

The ban starts at midnight and will continue for all of Wednesday.

"Some areas in the southern region, particularly the southeast may see temperatures of up to 30C and wind gusts up to 80 km/h which will push fires rapidly, making them dangerous and difficult to control," Tasmania Fire Service Chief Officer Chris Arnol said.
