Three escape Hobart house fire

Three people have escaped a Hobart house fire that caused $450,000 damage.

It took 12 firefighters about two hours to bring the blaze under control, and one woman had to be taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation and burns to her hands.

"This is one fortunate young woman. Had it not been for her quick-acting housemate and the prompt response of the Fire Service, she may not have survived," senior station officer Michael Goldsmith said on Sunday.
