Tasmanian water storage drops

Tasmania's hydro dam levels have fallen to 14.6 per cent, down 0.2 per cent, as the state battles energy supply issues.

In the seven days up to Monday there were only minor flows into dams, as storage nears the 6.5 per cent cut-off where water can no longer be used for hydro-electricity generation.

With a Bass Strait seabed electricity cable out of action, there have been fears of an energy "crisis" on the island but minister Matthew Groom says the government has diesel generators on loan to help maintain energy security.
