Tasmanian caver rescued after 8m fall

A caver who broke her leg has been rescued after spending nearly 12 hours underground in southern Tasmania.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was exploring Mystery Creek Cave with a friend when she fell eight metres on Thursday, authorities said.

Her friend raised the alarm at 1.30pm, but it took until just after midnight before rescuers were able to winch her to safety.
