Council worker dies after falling off ride-on mower in Tasmanian town

A council worker has died after he fell off a ride-on lawn mower in a small town on Tasmania's west coast.

Emergency services were called to Frank Long Park on Dodds Street at Zeehan just before 5pm yesterday.

Tasmanian Police said a man in his 30s was found "under the machine" and died at the scene.

WorkSafe Tasmania said their thoughts were with the man's family, friends and community.

"The worker died when the mower lost balance on uneven ground, resulting in the worker becoming trapped under the mower," WorkSafe Tasmania said in a statement.

"WorkSafe Tasmania is investigating the incident."
