Tas prison playground for visiting kids

A new playground for visiting children at Hobart's Risdon Prison will help rehabilitate inmates, the state government says.

Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin on Friday opened the play area which includes slides, climbing frames and a basketball hoop.

"Play is an important part of family connection and community development. The playground will keep children happy during visits, but more importantly it will encourage prisoners to rehabilitate and adapt to a normal life once their sentence ends," Ms Goodwin said.
