Tas parliament resumes minus Greens leader

Tasmanian parliament resumes on Tuesday for budget week minus a major player.

It will be the first time the House of Assembly has sat since the shock resignation on Wednesday of Greens leader Kim Booth, whose immediate departure leaves just two Greens MPs in the chamber.

Nick McKim and Cassy O'Connor say they are up to the task of covering for Mr Booth until his replacement is found, and will deliver a joint reply address following Thursday's budget.

Parliamentary debate is expected to focus on the budget, with the Labor opposition and Greens calling on the government to pour money into health, education and job generation programs.
