Tas murder-accused pleads not guilty

A man has pleaded not guilty to murder during his court appearance in Launceston a day after the victim was found dead by police.

Anthony Colin Finnegan, 35, of Prospect pleaded not guilty in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday to murdering Peter John Fitzgerald, 56, on Thursday morning.

Police were called to a unit at Summerhill in the early hours of Thursday where they found Mr Fitzgerald dead.

Finnegan will remain in custody until his next court appearance on January 30.
