Tasmania's Liberal MPs will refuse a 10.5 per cent pay rise and instead ask to be paid a more moderate increase in line with community expectations.

The state's lower house in April rejected the proposed 10.5 per cent boost which was later passed by the house of review, but Premier Will Hodgman said on Thursday that his MPs will write to the parliamentary clerk requesting the lower adjustment.

"We have consistently maintained that this (10.5 per cent) increase is out of step with community expectations," he said.
