Tasmania's Liberal government will make official plans to replace ill Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin in parliament as she receives ongoing medical care.

A week after she was admitted to hospital and subsequently diagnosed with multiple brain tumours, Premier Will Hodgman will on Friday put in place arrangements to continue Dr Goodwin's work as government leader in the state's upper house.

"A motion will also be moved at (today's) quorum call of the Legislative Council to arrange a leave of absence for Dr Goodwin," the premier said.
