Tasmanian businesses are set to benefit from a state government deal with Canberra to reduce regulatory red tape.

During a visit to the island state by federal Small Business Minister Michael McCormack on Monday, Tasmania signed on to the National Business Simplification Initiative which aims to remove duplication of statutory requirements.

"Much of the red tape burden we are seeing does not concern the regulations themselves, but rather the duplication of process across the different sections of government," Tasmanian Liberal government MP Roger Jaensch said, championing the benefits of the agreement.
