Tas expects downgraded GST windfall

The Tasmanian government is bracing for a downgraded forecast in GST revenue which could hit hard the state budget's bottom line, Treasurer Peter Gutwein warns.
Ahead of the Commonwealth Grants Commission release of revised GST estimates later on Thursday the treasurer said initial forecasts the state would be in line for an extra $212 million in 2016/17, seem unlikely.
"It's expected to show that while Tasmania will continue to get its fair share, the amount of GST we receive in future years will be significantly downgraded," Mr Gutwein said.
