Tas escapee sentence extended by 15 months

An inmate who escaped from Hobart's prison, leading police on a manhunt, will spend at least an extra 10 months in jail.

Marcus Denis Mayne, 27, was on Tuesday sentenced in Magistrates Court on charges including escaping custody, theft, burglary and the assault of a 16-year-old boy, which occurred while he was on the run in September.

Mayne, who was captured after boarding a vacant boat moored in suburban waters, was sentenced to a cumulative 15-month prison term, of which he must serve at least 10 months.
