Tas business to benefit from new planning

Twenty-nine planning permits are being rolled into one in an effort to boost the Tasmanian economy.

Existing planning permits cause confusion, delays, extra costs and frustration, says Planning Minister Peter Gutwein.

"It (the consolidation) will take the handbrake off investment and development, with benefits right around the state," Mr Gutwein said in a statement on Saturday.

The draft legislation for the Tasmanian Planning Scheme will be released for consultation on Monday.
