Tas bushfires focus of Senate inquiry

Federal parliament will hold an inquiry into Tasmania's summer bushfires which burned through parts of the state's Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Record hot and dry conditions fuelled the blazes, some of which burned for more than a month, with thousands of hectares of the protected area impacted as interstate and international fire crews were brought in to help the battle.
"This inquiry will look at the impact of global warming on fire frequency and magnitude and make recommendations for adequate financial, human and mechanical resources in the future," Greens senator for Tasmania, Nick McKim said on Thursday.
