Sydney yachtsman rescued off Tas coast

A yachtsman travelling from Hobart to Sydney has been winched to safety after hitting bad weather.

The 62-year-old Sydney man got into trouble when his engine overheated and his sail was damaged by a large swell off Tasmania's east coast on Tuesday morning.

He was able to phone for help and deploy his own raft to wait until a rescue helicopter winched him to safety.
