Smoke from Vic lingers over north Tassie

Smoke blown from interstate is expected to linger across parts of northern Tasmania for another day.

The state's public health service on Friday warned people with existing respiratory problems to take care, with the smoke from a series of controlled burns in Victoria unlikely to dissipate until Saturday.

"It appears that much of the smoke has originated from Victoria and has been blown over Tasmania by northerly winds," public health adviser Scott McKeown said.
