Retired auditor-general to run flood probe

Tasmania's former auditor general Mike Blake will lead a review of flooding which devastated parts the state and cost three lives in June.

Emergency Services Minister Rene Hidding on Tuesday told parliament the six-month, $400,000 investigation is due to report back by June 2017 and will investigate of the management of water storages, debris and cloud seeding flights in the lead up to heavy rains.

"It will report on the effectiveness of the strategies ... relating to flood risk and management prior to this event," the minister said.
