NSW firefighter in hospital after rollover

One NSW firefighter remains in a Tasmanian hospital after his truck rolled over while fighting bushfires.

Five NSW Rural Fire Service volunteers were involved in the accident and were taken to a Burnie hospital in a stable condition on Sunday.

One volunteer was still undergoing treatment while the other four are on their way home to NSW, the RFS tweeted on Monday.

The crash happened about 5.30pm on Sunday on Dip Falls Road.

Ambulance NSW officers working alongside the firefighters were close by and provided immediate assistance before the crew were taken to Burnie, on the northwest coast.

More than 100 firefighters from NSW and the ACT have gone to Tasmania to help deal with the bushfires burning across the state.

According to a fire alert issued on Sunday, back burning was planned for the northern part of the Dip Range as a precautionary measure in the Mawbanna fire.

The fire started on January 14 and has burnt through more than 63,000ha of bush.
