No plea from man on petrol attack charge

A Hobart man who allegedly doused his partner with petrol and set her alight will remain in custody after a brief court appearance during which he did not enter a plea.

Michael John Price, 45, on Monday faced Hobart Magistrates Court charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

A woman, 43, remains in hospital with burns to her face and upper body after the attack on Friday.

Price did not apply for bail and is due in court again on June 30.
