Libs name candidate to take on Wilkie

The Liberal party has named its candidate to take on Tasmanian MP Andrew Wilkie at the federal election.

Marcus Allan, 51, was on Friday named to stand for the Hobart seat of Denison, which Mr Wilkie, an independent, has held for two terms.

"I am committed to ensuring we get our fair share of resources and opportunities that come from the national innovation and science agenda," Mr Allan said in a statement.
