Jobless rate climbs in Tas

Tasmania's unemployment rate went up in March, bucking a national trend.
Jobless figures released on Thursday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed there were some 400 more people - an increase of 0.1 per cent to 6.9 per cent - out of work for the latest month, but Tasmanian treasurer Peter Gutwein dismissed the news as an anomaly.
"While there is some volatility in the ABS figures, the clear trend since the (2014 state) election is that unemployment is falling, jobs are increasing and Tasmania is heading in the right direction," he said.
