‘Distressing’ development as human remains found in search for Peter Willoughby
Tasmanian Police confirmed they have found human remains in their search for a man missing since late last year.
Peter Willoughby, 76, from Scottsdale in the state's north-east, was last seen on October 5 in the Hollybank area.
In a statement, police said remains had been found in the EagleHawk Tier area in Underwood in northern Tasmania.

"Forensic testing is yet to be completed, however at this stage we can confirm the remains appear to be an adult human male," Inspector Aleena Crack said.
She added that Willoughby's family had been informed of the discovery.
"We understand how distressing this development may be for his loved ones, and while everyone involved hopes it will help to provide answers, formal forensic analysis is required before we can determine whether the remains belong to Peter," she said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
