Greens leader Di Natale visits Tasmania

Australian Greens leader Richard Di Natale will make his first visit to Tasmania since taking the party's top job and wants to meet the locals.

The Melbourne-based senator, who is a medical doctor and farmer, became leader after the May resignation of Tasmania's Christine Milne and will spend Saturday in Hobart before heading to the state's north on Sunday.

At a public forum in the capital, Senator Di Natale will speak about restoring public confidence in politics, job creation, global warming, health and education.

He will be supported by former Greens leaders Ms Milne and Bob Brown, along with new party senator Nick McKim and state leader Cassy O'Connor.

On Sunday Senator Di Natale will host a community morning tea at the central northern town of Deloraine, before another public forum in Launceston.
