Human remains belonging to one of four fishermen missing in waters off Hobart have been identified, as police continue to search for the fourth fisherman.

Police say the remains of Aleksandar Drobnjak, 26, was identified today after DNA testing.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Four men - three from Hobart and one from New Zealand - went finishing at 9am on July 31 from  Frederick Henry Bay, near Hobart, and were reported missing six hours later.

The bodies of two of the fishermen, Magnus Julian Ritter, 34, and Luke William Davies, 32, were recovered from waters near Sloping Main on August 1.

The search continues with a police vessel equipped with a sonar scan set to resume searching tomorrow.
