Fire probe at Tas sex offenders' house

Police continue to investigate an arson attack at a property used to house convicted child-sex offenders northwest of Hobart.

Some residents of the Ellendale township have been vocal opponents to the Freedom Centre, where fire crews were called late on Saturday night to a deliberately lit blaze which destroyed two cars and a garage, causing about $40,000 damage.

"Police are aware of the heightened community concern regarding the Freedom Centre. Police have an active presence in the community and will continue to monitor the situation," Detective Inspector Craig Joel said on Monday, adding that investigations are continuing to find the cause of the fire and that no one has been charged.
