Emergency warning for Tas bushfire

An emergency warning has been issued for the Tasmanian coastal town of St Helens where a bushfire is burning.

Communities in Parnella and Stieglitz have been asked to activate their fire plans and leave if necessary.

The Tasmanian Fire Service says the bushfire is burning behind Treloggens Track, St Helens, in the state's northeast.

Tankers and emergency crews have been deployed to fight the blaze.
