Elderly pedestrian dies in Hobart crash

A man in his 80s has died after a car hit him in Hobart.

The accident happened on Girrabong Rd in Lenah Valley on Thursday afternoon.

Some roads in the area were closed while forensic police examined the scene.

The 87-year-old victim from Lenah Valley died at the scene.

The driver, 37 and also from Lenah Valley, was unhurt.

Police say investigations continue but it's not believed speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the accident.
