Tasmania's police commissioner Darren Hine will remain in the top job for another five years.
After joining the force as a cadet in the 1980s the Australian police medallist was appointed state commissioner in 2010 and Police Minister Rene Hidding said he has excelled in the position.
"Commissioner Hine is held in high regard in the law and justice community around the nation, particularly for his leadership in the community on key matters such as family violence and his strong commitment to enforcing public safety in Tasmania," Mr Hidding said in a statement issued on Thursday.
