Costly Hobart hotel fire an accident: TFS

A kitchen fire that caused an estimated $350,000 damage to a Hobart hotel has been deemed accidental by investigators.

Crews were called to Hotel Soho about 10.30pm on Sunday where a blaze had spread quickly through the top floor of the unoccupied property, taking about an hour to extinguish.

"Tasmania Fire Service investigators along with electrical investigators deemed the fire to be accidental in nature caused by an electrical failure in an internal switchboard," firefighter Haydn Fletcher said on Monday.
