Chilly winter for Tasmania

Tasmania has experienced its coldest winter in almost half a century and its sixth coolest on record.

As the island state moved into spring on Tuesday Bureau of Meteorology spokeswoman Debbie Tabor said data indicates it has been a chilly season, including below average temperatures and rainfall, and low-level snowfall.

"Preliminary analysis is all indicating that it's the sixth coolest on record, that's resulting in the coolest winter since 1966," she told ABC.
