Bass Strait cable repair work progressing

Calm conditions in Bass Strait mean a repair crew is on schedule as they work to fix a damaged seabed electricity cable.
Basslink has been working to fix the cable, which has been out of order since December, and on Tuesday a spokesman for the company said calm weather means the first of three joins is due to be completed on Wednesday, in line with a forecast mid-June completion.
"It is expected that this new section of cable will be laid at some point on Friday," he said.
