Butterworth inquest back in November

After hearing almost four weeks of evidence, a coroner has adjourned until November an inquest into the 1969 disappearance and suspected murder of Hobart woman Lucille Butterworth.

Family, friends, colleagues, past and present police, convicted criminals and witnesses who saw 20-year-old Ms Butterworth at the suburban bus stop from where she vanished, have been among those to give evidence to coroner Simon Cooper.

But prime suspect Geoffrey Charles Hunt, who police say had the greatest opportunity to pick up Ms Butterworth from the bus stop, and has since been convicted of murdering another woman, is yet to face the inquest.

He denies any knowledge of the disappearance.

The inquest is due to reconvene on November 18.
