Two days after a fatal fall, the body of a 59-year-old Canberra man has been recovered from a remote walking trail in Tasmania's central highlands.
Police on Tuesday confirmed crews have returned from Mt Ossa after an operation that was hampered by poor weather.
The man slipped and fell on a steep section of track while descending from Tasmania's highest summit on Sunday, police said.

His 20-year-old son's cries for help were heard by a nearby group and the alarm was raised with authorities.
The man died from head injuries, police said.
