Basslink owners meet Tasmanian premier

The Singaporean owners of the broken Basslink power cable connecting Tasmania and Victoria have met with Premier Will Hodgman.

Keppel Corporation chair Lee Boon Yang met with the Tasmanian premier on Saturday to discuss the broken cable, which has left Tasmania facing an energy crisis due to record low rainfalls.

"Dr Lee made it clear (they are) treating the repair of the Basslink interconnector as a matter of priority and will endeavour to complete the repair as soon as possible," Mr Hodgman said on Saturday.
