Hobart man pleads guilty to petrol attack

A Hobart man has admitted to a vicious attack on his partner, which included dousing her in petrol and setting her alight.

Michael John Price, 45, on Wednesday pleaded guilty in the Hobart Magistrates Court to causing grievous bodily harm to a woman on June 19 in the northern suburb of Austins Ferry.

She was rushed to hospital with burns to her head and upper body.

Price also pleaded guilty to a charge of assault on the same woman, which stems from an incident in April.

He will remain in custody until he appears in the Supreme Court on August 31.
