Sydney $45 million eastern beaches 1920s home knocked down
A Sydney brick home built in the 1920s has been knocked down after it sold for $45 million in May last year.
The bungalow known as "Lang Syne" was on a 1100-square-metre block on the clifftops of Tamarama in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs.
The home last traded in 1959 for £9750 - the equivalent of around $18,000 without adjusting for inflation.
It was a four-bedroom and two-bathroom dwelling.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports New York based Adman and Accenture Song chief David Droga paid cash for the property before it was knocked down.
The property sale smashed the previous record of $25 million for Sydney's eastern beaches.
Before it was knocked down, eastern suburbs residents took a punt about how much the property would sell for, but none were even close.
"I reckon $1 million, nah more than that, it'll go for $1.5 million," one resident told 9News.
The property on one of Sydney's most prized pieces of land was marvelled at by Sydneysiders walking along the Bondi to Bronte path.
