A woman has been charged with high-range drink-driving after allegedly being caught three times over the legal limit with a four-year-old passenger in the back seat.

Police approached the woman after noticing a silver BMW stopped on Evaline Street in Campsie, about 11.30pm with significant damage to the front.

A 45-year-old woman was allegedly sitting in the driver's seat with a four-year-old boy in the back who had a bleeding nose.

The driver was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where she allegedly provided a breath analysis reading of 0.174 - over three times the legal limit.

The child was taken to Canterbury Hospital as a precaution and he is now in the care of his adult sister.

She was charged with high-range drink driving and had her licence suspended.
