Two teens arrested and released following shopping centre manhunt

Two teens were arrested after a shopping centre was placed into lockdown in Sydney's west today.

Police had attempted to stop the pair in Bonnyrigg Plaza around 1.30pm, arresting one inside a fruit shop.

The second ran from police, leading to the lockdown as more officers were called to the scene.

Shoppers were evacuated from the centre as police hunted the second teen for more than an hour.

He was arrested just before 3.30pm and both were taken to Fairfield Police Station.

The pair were later released.

Police say the arrests relate to a string of armed robberies across Sydney's southwest overnight.

At 12.15am two men robbed a BP at Bonnyrigg Heights, armed with a knife, handgun and a metal pole.

Around two hours later the men smashed their way into a Coles service station in Cabramatta using a metal bar and hand gun.

Half an hour later three men robbed the United petrol station in Prairiewood with a gun and two metal poles.
