Sydney Scout leader charged with sex abuse

A former Sydney Scouts leader has been charged with sexually abusing three boys during the 1970s and 80s.

Detectives launched an investigation after three men came forward with allegations last year.

It will be alleged that during the 1970s and 80s a man sexually abused three boys, aged nine, 12 and 14, in the Beverley Hills and Mortdale areas.

The man was allegedly a Scouts leader at South Punchbowl, Caringbah North and Miranda East at the time, and the boys were all members.

Police arrested a 63-year-old man at Kogarah Police Station on Friday.

He was charged with four counts of indecent assault on male, three counts of sexual assault, indecent assault under authority on a child between 14 and 16 and indecent assault under authority on a child under 16.

The man was given strict bail conditions to appear at Kogarah Local Court on February 18.
