Two men arrested after reports of gunshots in Sydney's north shore

Two men have been arrested after police opened fire at a car in a shopping centre car park in Sydney's North Shore.

Witnesses have recalled hearing two distinct gunshots near a Woolworths in Neutral Bay around 4.20pm today.

The incident occurred when officers attempted to stop a vehicle in a carpark on Grosvenor Lane.

Initial reports suggest the car was driven at the officers, before police fired their gun with one bullet smashing directly through the windscreen.

The car then hit a bollard and two men were arrested at the scene.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

Inquiries are continuing however police believe the incident is linked to an ongoing drug investigation.
