A 60-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase across western Sydney.

The police chase started on Pendle Way at Pendle Hill about 2am today.

Exclusive 9News pictures show a car blasting along Gilba Road.

Police claim the 60-year-old was spotted driving suspiciously and was directed to stop near Dunmore Street but he didn’t stick around.

At one stage he crossed onto the wrong side of Targo Road, before moving onto the Great Western and Cumberland highways.

The alleged run from the law came to a crashing end with the driver smashing into a barrier on the M4 at Merrylands.

The passenger, a 29-year-old woman, was taken to Westmead Hospital for further assessment.

Timothy Hiron, who police allege was behind the wheel, was arrested and taken to Parramatta police station.

He was charged with driving while disqualified, not stopping in a police pursuit, and driving dangerously.

His matter was briefly mentioned in court.

No application was made for bail and he remains behind bars.

He returns to court tomorrow.
