Four charged after allegedly assaulting off-duty cop in Sydney's east

Four people have been charged after they allegedly assaulted an off-duty police officer at a cemetery in Sydney's west.

Emergency services were called after the officer was attempting to check on a woman but was allegedly assaulted by two males and two women on Bunnerong Road in Chifley about 4pm yesterday.

Police said another off-duty officer called for help after the brawl, which the first woman was not injured in.

"NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the off-duty officer at the scene for facial injuries," NSW Police said in a statement.

He was taken to the Prince of Wales Hospital and has since been discharged.

Police arrested four people at the scene including a 16-year-old boy, a 25-year-old man, and two women aged 19 and 22.

"They were all charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other(s)," police said.

"The 16-year-old boy was also charged with assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm and hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

"The 22-year-old woman was also charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

"The 25-year-old man was also charged with hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty."

All four were refused bail and are expected to appear at various courts today.
