Man charged after well-known NSW activist Danny Lim allegedly attacked

A man has been charged after well-known Sydney activist Danny Lim was allegedly assaulted at a train station last week.

Lim, 79, was taken to hospital with facial injuries after the alleged attack about 4pm on September 22 at Strathfield station, where he was campaigning for the Yes vote ahead of the referendum

It is not known whether Lim got into a disagreement with someone who did not agree with his views on the Voice.

"Police will allege in court that a 66-year-old man approached a 79-year-old man before punching and kicking him," NSW Police said in a statement.

"The 79-year-old man was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was taken to Concord Hospital. He has since been released."

Police arrested the 66-year-old at a Homebush West home about 7am today.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was released on strict bail conditions and is expected to appear at Burwood Local Court on October 5.

Lim has since been spotted continuing to campaign after the alleged assault.
